Will this file system also allow you to treat the flash memory as a block
device? An example would be an ATA card and how it's sectors can be read?

We may want to have the ability to read files from the FFS partition when
CE is NOT running. Is it possible for the Data Light product to operate
without CE? Do CE / Data Light store the data as a FAT partition?

This was on two different MIPS processors (R3000/R4000). My
interface module provided flash part identification, (to mount the
drive), sector erase, and write functions.

The FIM took less than a day to write.

The only other apsect we had to modify was the memory mapping -
the driver calls a MapWindow function every time it wants to talk to
the Flash, and we had to ensure that we returned a valid, virtual
address etc.
