I see what you're saying but i'm aware of the diffrences... :)
We use a socks5 proxy port (accessed through socks5 proxy settings in major
applications). All normal ports are blocked, if you want to go through the
firewall you use the socks5 proxy to do so. *Every* application i've
needed to use includes Socks proxy support (Eudora, Netscape, IE4 & 5,
CuteFTP, mIRC, etc etc etc) but after a call to MS Tech support, Outlook
doesnt support firewalls.
So i guess i stand corrected... MS *is* stupid enough to include a mail
program that cant be used at a business for a CE device clearly directed at
business users. Silly me.
A side note, i did some research and a program called 'SocksCap' can
emulate socks support and thus i can get Outlook to work with the firewall.
Its just cheezy as crap that i need to use some 10k freeware program
written in the early 90's to operate microsofts new 'super' mail program
they want us all to use. Fugures.
