Sorry, I should've been more informative... PocketC is a self-contained= programming language for Windows CE (and there's a PalmOS version, too).= By self-contained, I mean you can code right on your H/PC, which makes it= a great "toy" for me (I can kick back on the couch and figure this stuff= out). It doesn't create stand alone apps, though.... there's a small= run-time ... thingie (so...Read More

Sheesh. My 4MB E-10 is outta room. I have uninstalled most of the junk I don't use and installed all the shareware/freeware I need. But even with most installed to my 12MB flash card I am outta room. I cannot use Proxiweb (of course I don't think it matters any to begin with) and my last install was the crappy Casio modem. How in the name of god can a modem driver for CE be alomst 1MB???? ...Read More

Hi Paul, Thanks for the info. I got this working, here's what I learned. I was wrong to say that "all my apps" had this problem. The ones that create their own window class were working fine, it was the dialog based ones that had this problem. For the simple dialogs, I had to turn off the WS_POPUP style and stop setting the dialog windows as HWND_TOPMOST with a call to SetWindowPos()....Read More

Harlyn, A couple of issues: You have Visual CE listed as a product, but the software that is downloaded is not Visual CE. It is a sample form created using Visual CE. Its title is "expense Tracker". I believe this is misleading and potentially will sour Visual CE prospects. Please change the title to "Expense Tracker". We have another valuable utillity available for free called FreeN...Read More

I have been testing on a E100. If you do a simple test by creating a basic mfc application, and then run it, it takes something like 500k-700k. Take a look at Kenny Goers ftp application for instance. It only takes about 200k at runtime. So if you are able to get your mfc applications down to a running size of 200k, please let me know how, I wouldn't mind using MFC. -----Original Mess...Read More

I don't know if this is the best way, but this is what I use in my MFC apps. By using this method, its makes its easier to port apps from PalmPC's to HPC's. No funny libraries to worry about.. void CBAApp::RaiseSIP(BOOL bShow) { CMainFrame* pFrame = (CMainFrame*)AfxGetMainWnd(); if (pFrame == NULL) return; HWND h = ::FindWindow(_T("SipWndClass"),NULL); if (h != NULL) { ...Read More

I would like to use the VC++ debugger for a reference platform board I have. I just got through reading an article in the April issue of DDJ and the article on CE mentioned that under Visual C++ you can't use the MS- provided STL (Standard Template Library). The author mentions porting the HP STL and doing some dressing up to make it work with Vis C. Like the author, I'm using the STL pretty extensively in my apps (they're very handy) and I'd like to keep on ...Read More

If you have a "sources" file in your directory try this: Remove any reference to any entry point in the "sources" file (i.e.: EXEENTRY=main and DLLENTRY=dllentry). Because of these, the loader will skip the CPP RTL startup code responsible for calling all global constructors.
